a hack to get catalyst 3.0 working on 9800

I want to get the catalyst 3.0 drivers running on a radeon 9800 pro. Before you ask why when there are newer drivers out, I'll tell you the reason. I have heard that this is the only version that supports running Morrowind at the moment. So that is why I wanted to try them out. The current setup does not install the drivers, so I need a hack. Can someone hack the drivers so I can run Morrowind?

I have an ATI 9500 pro and using the 3.3 catalyst drivers have no real problems running morrowind apart from the odd crash which seems normal from reading about other peoples problems wth morrowind.

What I mean is that it does not want to install on the 9800, the 3.4 does not work correctly for Morrowind. The 3.0 gives me an inf error. It should be an easy fix, because I believe that the 9800 is similar to the 9700 (which is supported on the 3.0 catalyst drivers)

those drivers DO NOT SUPPORT your radeon! Beware that you might screw up your system enough requiring you to do a full install.

I guess I should just hang in until catalyst 3.5 is released. I know someone who had the same issue I had with everything after 3.0 on his 9700 Pro. He installed the 3.0 drivers and Morrowind worked fine. Anyone get a crash in the game where you exit the ship? I believe it is possibly an AMD-ati-morrowind problem.

griobhta: what processor do you have? I have an AMD athlon xp processor.

Currently i have an XP2000+. I have played morrowind on that as well as a Duron 1.2 with my ATI. Also with a Duron 1.2 and a 700 @ 956 with a Geforce2MX.

Cant say that i have noticed any change in Morrowinds stability over the time playing it.

griobhta: If you mean the 3.3 drivers, they were cancelled. Do you mean the 3.4 drivers? or perhaps the 3.0 drivers. Morrowind crashes for me and I have similar hardware to you.

opps yep 3.2 havent got round to installing the 3.4 as i plan to reinstall once my delivery or cd'r's comes in.
