Not your usual keyboard mod...

Anyone ever see a cut-down keyboard? Like cut down to just the num-pad? Any thoughts / advice / links on this would be helpful. I need to know if you can just hack off the excess keys you dont need or will that screw up the signals to the machine.... Any thoughts? opinions? successes or failures would be helpful

You can buy the numeric keypads on their own....Go here.... and search for 'keypad'. That will bring up a few - but they are a bit pricier than a keyboard!!

Yup, there's a few companies that make those. I don't think you could just hack up a keyboard like you said. Have you ever taken one apart and looked at all the traces? Now, if you wanted to reroute all those traces, that's a different story. IMO, it wouldn't be worth it though.

Want to see a "not very usual keyboard mod"? Check out one of mine...

I've seen a couple of cool keyboard mods where they broke it into two pieces (a standard keyboard not a natural curvy one) and had it fully functional... it looked really nice. I just can seem to find the link now.

u could always take the flimsy trace holder thingy and fold it under and cut the plastic case off except for the num pad and fold the rest of the traces under or something.

I'd buy about 10 of the 3.99 keyboards I saw at the computer fair and totally destroy them. If the mod doesn't work, oh well. If you get something that works...yea!
