OK IM DONE!

I know this post will be almost identical to my other post.. but I just decided once and for all what I'm getting and how much it is going to cost.. I want to know if I am getting a good deal or not.. so please tell me what you think..

Asus A7N8X motherboard.. $126
AMD Athlon XP CPU 2600+ $106
Radeon 9800 Pro $373
ThermalTake Heatsink Fan $30
CHIEFTEC Server Chasis (Aluminum Workstation Tower with Plastic Front Cover) BLACK w/450Watt Foxconn Power Supply & acrylic window $89

it's gonna have about 1gb ram.. or 2 if i can get enough money..

And it all totals, unless I did my math wrong, $724 excluding the memory.. is this a good deal? Also.. could anyone, if they know, tell me if all this is going to be compatible with each other? I'd just like to be sure.. I'm hoping that this system will be a big improvement from the one I have now.. p4 1.8 ghz.. 128ram and integrated crappy video..

Comments/suggestions appreciated... and thanks!

Todd

Looks good to me, I'd say 2 gigs ram is overkill right now though. I have 1gig and I really don't even see a vast improvement over 512. Some, sure, but not $70 dollars worth. There's nothing I have that even uses close to all the memory. I DO like that card, hope you enjoy it, it'll last a long time...Does the a7n8x support the 8x agp? B/c I believe the pro is 8x ( I know it'll still work w/ 4x, but why blow the $$ unless you can maximize the potential)

I'd stick with a gig of ram also.Use the $$ for something else ya can't live without.

If you're gonna overclock a Tbred get a DLTC 1700+ from svc.com for $60. They're clockin Kings these days. Or... you can pick up a 2500+ Barton for less than $100. The new AQXDA's are good clockers.

built by radeon? I'm not sure what you mean, but it's one they made.. here's the link to it.. http://www.fticomputer.com/cgis/deta...C3&ses=&cat=VB

And okay, I'll stick to 1GB.. I've heard others say that'd be over doing it too.. so no need to get that much..

I don't really care what kind of cpu I have, just as long as it'll work with the a7n8x mobo and it'll be able to use the thermaltake hsf.. whats the difference from the cpu i am getting and barton?

"Built By ATI" means the card was actually made by ATI.

"Powered by ATI" means the card was main by another third party card company, that just used the Radeon chip.

The card you have listed is not a "Built By ATI" radeon. Its made by a third party card company. Cards made by third party card companies are cheaper becasue they are built cheaper. The memory is usually slower and lower in quality, and the card wasn't built in that good of quality. Some third party card companies are better than other, but none are as good as the cards that are actually made by ATI.

The card on that web site is made by powercolor, one of the worst ATI card company makes. If you want to go third party aim for a saphire or a crucial radeon.

Newegg has the built by ATI 9800 Pro for $399. That's $26 more than the one you have listed. It's at the very bottom of this page:
