I have 3 computers hooked up to a network. 2 of the computers are mine running win98se and the third is my daughters running win2k. File sharing is working fine among all computers. However, I want to be able to share just between my 2 computers. I do not want my daughter to have access to my files. When I go to her win2k machine, network, I can access all computers on the network. I do not want to password protect the drives on my computers. How do I disable the file sharing on her computer? Or someone not allow her to open or see my computers? I can't disable the network completely because she accesss the internet through our shared router.
Macko - You can just set a password for sharing on your computer. It won't make a difference to how you work on your 98 PC. You can have the other 98 PC remember the Password after connecting the 1st time, so it won't really affect that person either.
Since your daughter won't know the password, her 2K machine will never be able to connect.
Not that I've ever done this but it should be as simple as: Control Panel, Network and Dial-up Connections, right-click Local Area Network icon, properties, Client for Microsoft Networks, Uninstall.
