When you say system tray do you mean the entire tool bar that goes across the bottom of the screen where the Start button and clock is located? Or do you mean only the system tray? Does the PC work properly except for this problem?

Are you able to boot into safe mode?

If you mean the system tray, the bit with the clock and volume control in, then check to see if systray.exe is running. If it isn't, start it and see if it works.
If you mean the explorer bar that goes right across the screen, do you still have icons on the desktop? are you sure it hasn't just been hidden, or resized? Does it appear in safe mode? Did the machine run a scandisk and fix any errors when it rebooted?

The full bar at the bottom of the screen is gone ,yes scan disc did a scan and just finished booting after. The puter is working fine and I haven't tried to go to safe mode. All the icons are still on desktop.I have to reset to reboot,so if there is something I can try without reseting I would love to try it .Thanks to all for the fast replies.

Move the mouse pointer to the bottom of the screen slowly. It should turn into a double arrow looking thing pointing up and down. When it does that left click and hold while dragging upwards. I think you just may be hiding the task bar.

Are you sure you didn't just drag it to a small line at the bottom, or other edge of the screen?
Try hovering your pointer at the bottom or edges and see if the double arrow appears.
If so, just drag it back to it's regular size.

Solved, this video card supports 2 monitors and I tried to set it up some time ago (didn't manage to do it ) but nview was still supporting it and the systray bar got moved to the screen that isn't there,by a mouse gesture in a game.I disabled the function and the bar popped back in place. Thanks all for your time and suggestions .Maybe you could help get the other monitor to function right.Had a pci voodoo 3 2000 installed for second monitor, put it as initial display and it would boot up and then the other monitor would light saying if you can see this then things are functioning right ,then it would try to go to the next screen and everything would freeze up.Any ideas would again be great.
