how to use VideoIn with WinfastA280

Hi

I want to hook up an analog video camera to my Leadtek Geforce4ti4200 MyVivo.

If someone has the same card could you please give me a brief overview of how to go about it.
eg what software to use, Winfast PVR?
What cables should I use - I hope they're provided?

Also, any tips on what format / quality setting I should use.

Most important: the clip has already been recorded on the camera's tape, so is it possible to upload that to my pc, or can I only record video on my pc that the camera is currently filming?

Thanks for answering my newbie questions.

Dejan

I have that card (and have used several variations of it).

I'm not sure which version you got - the retail version comes with a big blue cable that plugs into the back of your card, some OEM versions just came with a black video in and video out generic cable. We'll assume you have the retail version. I'll also assume you have already installed all of the drivers correctly prior to installing the WinFast My VIVO.

VIDEO IN -
1. On your camcorder, take the RCA video out (yellow) and run it to the RCA video in on the video card.
2. Then take the left and right audio out cables on the camcorder and run the to the Line In on your sound card. If your sound card doesn't have RCA line in jacks for left and right, you'll have to get a splitter to run them into the single 9mm line in.

SOFTWARE -

1. Open up Winfast My VIVO.
2. Click on the configureation button in the lower box (third button to the right) and a new box will pop up.
Make sure that you have the correct Line In chosen (I'll attach a screen shot).
3. Note that by default the default area to save the video is C:\Winfast Workarea so you know where your video is later.
4. Click on the green checkmark.
5. Fire up your camcorder and press play. You should now see the video and hear it as well.

You should just stay with the default setting of MPEG2 Good Quality - changing it to more will eat up gobs of drive space.
Hope that helps a bit .

Mike
