Hello, is this a good choice for a motherboard?

Hello everyone,

I recently decided that I wanted to create a computer, actually my first one, that'd be devoted to gaming, since this one just isn't cutting it. I've heard many people say that the best motherboard I could get is the Asus A7N8X .. but I'm not sure what to get.. I'm planning on getting an AMD cpu with this motherboard as well.. any suggestions/comments?

Thanks,

Todd

Yes that is a good board but the question is How much are you will to spend to build a comp? If you are expecting to build a good gaming comp then you will have to spend for good stuff if you know what i mean

Oh by the way:

The Asus is a good choice but you might want to consider also the ABIT NF7-S.
I`ve never been a big fan of ASUS Tech support and RMAs that`s the main reason why I don`t buy ASUS, but other people might think differently.

I would take a 3000+, its only 264$ now on Newegg.

Welcome to this wonderful place!

Yes welcome...
you will have to give some guidelines as to what pricerange and performance level.
"money is not an option" will attract different answers and suggestions than, "on a budget of $300 and any change under the cushions"

Well here's everything I've decided on getting for the computer.. which totals around 600$ leaving out the drives and everything else I already have..

ASUS A7N8X
AMD Athlon XP 2600+
Radeon 9800 Pro
chieftec case

and everything else I already have.. would this be a good gaming system?

looks nice.. can't see how it really differs from Asus, and I have heard not so good things about Asus's tech support as well.. do you know where I could buy this board for around the same price I was going to pay for the asus on newegg? .. 127$

Thanks,

Todd

bshplt,

Now that I've fairly looked over that motherboard, using my small knowledge on motherboards, and I noticed that it doesn't support AMD Athlon XP Processors with 400 FSB.. do they have a version that does? I'd like to be able to upgrade the CPU in the future..
