Audigy 2 in Linux!

So now i've found out that infact I don't need to patch the kernel. The inital response was 'yay' then i tried the program. You can imagine the outcome if I'm posting. The outcome was "/dev/null" (nothing)!! They have the project on source forge http://sourceforge.net/projects/emu10k1 <-- thats the link. I'm confused and am truly uncertain as to where to go. Assistance is greatly appreciated!!

No way you should need to patch the kernel...unless your sound modules are compiled into the kernel.

All you should need to do is get the new emu10k1 module and things *should* work out.
The thread Jester linked should walk you through it, I believe I've used that one before.

Why not take a look at ALSA? That'll have a working driver. All you should need to do is build that module and copy it over the one in /lib/modules. Then just modprobe it or use /etc/modules.autoload if you're still on Gentoo to load it at startup.
