Kids Presario 1920 shuts off five to ten seconds after booting?

My Presario 1920 laptop will shut itself off after about five to ten seconds after booting. It previously worked fine, and always ran warm, like most laptops do. I also have another 1920 so I was able to do a step by step switch out of all components including the PII 300mhz processor and I've isolated it to the motherboard only.

Can anyone help? Is there a thermal switch on the MB that eventually wears out? Could it be the PCI bus chip? Any help at all would be appreciated. I did contact a laptop repair site which stated it's a board repairable problem (minimum $199), but of course they don't share their diagnosis or probable cause information. Thanks, Ray!
