CPU Temp increase by ageing?

Hey all i was just wondering if the CPU temp increases the older the CPU and/or the HSF gets. When i forst got it (AMD Athlon XP 1800+ Volcano 9 Artic Silver 3) it idles at around 96 F and full loaded at around 104 F.

Now it idels anywhere from 107-120. So i thought hmm lets clean the HSF and apply new artic. But it still has high temps.

Any Ideas why?

Fan on the cooler? Sleeve bearings on the fan on the cooler? Sleeve bearings die quickly in some cases.

Perhaps take the fan off the heatsink and run it through the dishwasher, then when it dries clean off the contact area with rubbing alcohol and put it all back together, some dust and such will stick to the fins and cause less thermal transfer from the fins to air.....

I believe it has nothing to do with your heat sink at all, after all its just metal prolly a combo of copper and aluminum which may take a hundred years or so to rust away, prolly more. Your heat is from either poor filter breathing(clean your filters) or your AS3 has started thermal breakdown from power cycling(turning on & off). Pop your heat sink off(if you do your own work) and carefully clean the CPU die and the heatsink and re-apply fresh heat sink compound wether it be AS3 again or some other product of your choice. That should do it.

Hmm i must have forgottn to put that, but i allrdy dd all that i took paret the cooler washed out the HS reaplied AS3 and everything. But still hot. I did replace the Power supply cause my 400 watt broke down, this is a 300 watt, now i heard that if the PSU has insuffiecient ammount of wats it gets hot, maybe it creates too much heat inside of the case, so the fan blows warm air. Could that be?
