Word, Excel, microsoft product issues

At it again,

Ok, there are some issues with my microsoft products. Mainly being, say for instance I open up Word. Then I go to File>>Open>>and then I select the drop down menu to display the listed folders. Well it hangs, it also does this in Excel, and Powerpoint. I have some mapped drives and shared folders, but nothing major, I just added new memory too. Any ideas?

It hangs and won't list any folders at all? Or does it eventually list the folders?

mine does this when I have a CD in the tray
it has to read the CD directory even if I'm working on the hard drive
your 'mapped drives' could cause the delay also

Possiblilty one of your mapped drives isn't available?
Maybe mapped to server1, and server 1 isn't available at the time.. or possible network problems slowing it down...
