Uninstall program

Hi
Can anyone tell me how to uninstall a program. Ever since I got this XP in Feb 2003 at the start this program is the first thing to come on. I have gone to the Control Panel for add and remove but that does not remove it. When I get to the end of remove it says Freedom is curerntly running. Please shutdown Freedom and click OK to continue. I shut it down before I opened the Control Panel and don't know how to shut it down now without removing everything.

with XP you click "start", "run", and type "msconfig"
in new window, click on "general" tab and choose "diagnostic startup" , click "aplly" and then "OK"....Reboot and only the basic drivers and programs will load...sorta like "SafeMode"

Don't need anything like code starter with XP.

Make sure the services for that program is not running.

go to control panel / administrative tools / and look for your Freedom thing to make sure its not set to enable for it to automatically start at the loading of the OS.

Also go to

run / type in "msconfig" without the quotes
go to the start up tab
look for your freedom thingy and deselect it from the start up menus. this is also a good time to take other things out of start up that you know you do not want in start up.

then reboot.

There is another trick to viewing stuff that doesn't show up in add/remove programs but I will not recommend it unless you are comfortable with modifing system files. its not always a garentee that it will be there either.

Have you tried running Ad-Aware or Spybot?

Update them first. Don't delete everything Spybot picks up, only things that you can tell are adware/spyware.
