In need of info about LCDs!!

Hi Guys,
I'm going to buy an LCD this weekend .. i'm thinking Samsung 17" or 19"..
Anyways, i have few questions for you LCD users:

*Is ghosting still a problem when gaming with new LCDs? (noticeable ghosting?)

*Will it make a difference if i picked a VGA or DVI based LCD in general image quality? (i have a DVI out in my GF4 card! the price difference is about $100 between VGA and DVI LCDs)


On a different matter, would the GF4 Ti4200 be able to give good sharp 2D quality on the LCD at higher resolutions (1280x1024 up)..

Ghosting is not a problem anymore in the new LCDs. You have to make sure you`re going to buy an LCD that has 16ms of response time. Be careful becasue some websites list only the "rise" time as response. instead the total response time is the rise plus the fall time.

If you`re going for a 17" LCD I would recommend either the Hitachi CML174 or the Viewsonic VP171B, or even the NEC 1760NX


DVI makes a big difference in non HIGH-END video card. If you have a 9700PRo I`ve been told the quality difference between DVI or Analog is almost none.

I don't use LCD's, but I do alot of reading. I think you should definitely go for the DVI over the VGA. As for the ghosting, I think it varies quite a bit from monitor to monitor. You need to read some reviews on the monitors you're looking at to see if ghosting is a problem. I know there's a number (kinda like a refresh rate). If your LCD has a good #, then ghosting isn't a big problem. I think it's like 25. I'm not sure. I just checked out Samsung's web-site, looking for technical spec's for those monitors. Their web-site sucks! No good info. Or if it's there, it's hard to find. The other thing with LCD's is that the colors aren't as accurate as with CRT's. If you do any Photo or graphics work, that may be a problem. Just something to think about.
