Help! Comp Totally DEAD

Here's what happened..Tried to reboot my computer with Cnt-Alt-Del, but it wouldn't. Wouldn't turn off from the front switch either..then the screen went black and now it won't boot up at all!
When i turn it on there are No Lights, No sounds, No Fans moving. I put in a new power supply, thinking that was the problem but it still doesn't work.

Also, If i try to swap the CPU with my other computer just to check it, will I lose anything on the other computer, or should it return to normal when i put it back in?

please help! thanks.

using:Windows ME
Pentium 3

No you wont loose anything on the other Computer But if there something wrong with the Motherboard it can effect Cpu. Now my question is why did you have to reboot? did you install something or did your computer freeze?

Hmm, sound like the mobo to me at a guess...

You swapped the psu, did you use the same power lead, if so, check the fuse.

Open up the computer and check that all cables are correctly seated and that your PCI/ISA devices are firmly in place. Also check that your cpu is correctly seated in its guides and pushed firmly in. Pay particular attention to your video card as you say the monitor went dead.

If all is ok, I cant see that a dead cpu would stop everything, you should still get power to the mobo. Are all the case connectors like reset, power etc in place?

Try resetiing your CMOS. It's usually a jumper on the motherboard very near the 3.3V battery(to properley reset the CMOS, Unplug your ATX connector from the mainboard and then switch the jumper to (Clear state) for about ten seconds. Then switch the jumper back and re-plug your ATX connector back to the mainboard and turn power on. can you hear any Hard drive activity or just system fans? If you can hear hard drive activity reading/writing(not just spin-up) then look into your video card. If you still have no hard disk activity other than spinning up then I would lean towards your mainboard or CPU being bad. If you suspect your cpu and dont want to test it on your equipment, head to your local electronics store and ask them if they will see if starts or not. the mom and pop shops usually wont charge you. If your RAM was bad the system would likely just continue beeping on start-up.

Slow down. Don't swap the CPU. Your are just asking for trouble. Make sure the power cord is plugged in securely to the pc's power supply. Check the other end of the cord. If it plugged into a power strip make sure it is working. Now turn on the PC. If nothing starts (and you tried another power supply with the same results) then I agree with w2kuser. The power button from the front of the case is connected to your motherboard. When you press it a logic signal is sent to the power supply. If this signal is not received by the ps, then it won't start.
