Create Editable Scanned Doc?
Is there a program out there that I can take a form if I scan it into my machine, as a form, and be able to fill in the blanks and print it? |

Yes, any text recognition program will do it...keep in mind that the technology isn't perfect, so you'll probably have to edit the text a little.
Sorry I don't know any offhand, do a search and I'm sure you'll have no problem...though you might not find any free software.

Eg. Omnipage does OCR.
But I think I've seen scan type text even in HP's own scanning program, don't know how good it is as I've always used Omnipage.

-M | I did find it in HP's software. I just got an HP v40 all-in-one and it was included. I tried it and got a very crappy scanned image but edit-able.
Better scanner? |

It's the software...like I said, it's not perfect...but just as well if it lets you export it to a word processor and fix it, I guess.

Or different options for text scanning. My HP software has 2 modes: Text, and Text/Image.
Also, my version (2.02) offers preferences dialog, text tab offers Framed text and Flowed text. Getting the last 2 set the wrong way was my problem, when I switched the preference setting, the OCR was nearly flawless.

Visioneer scanners all come with Paperport, which has integrated OCR that I think is quite good. Paperport can also be purchased separately.
I always use very high resolutions, since I don't need to keep the scan itself, just the output. It can be set up to scan, OCR and open the resulting document in Word with one button on the scanner. Error rates are very low. Only tables don't seem to do well.

Is Textbridge the integrated s/w that comes with Paperport or is it different? I got paperport (with a visioneer scanner) and textbridge and I usually work in texbride instead of the Paperport control panel when I am scanning editable text. It works great IMHO.
