What else can I ruin: What I bought in a months time?

Of course you read about my PC problems and such the last month. So here's what I had to buy to get everything back to working order.

Not only was the PSU bad but I put the wires that go into the molex connectors in WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My stupidity keeps shinning day by day it seems.

Motherboard --- $82 Blew that when I drilled out the fan grill.
It was like a jackhammer going off and there sat my poor board
being shaken around worse than the 1909 San Francisco
earthquake.

PSU --- $54
Tornado fan ----$20 connected it but the connections were wrong.
that's why it didn't work. PUT IT IN THE TRASH...
Thought it was broke so I through it out .

Cathode light - RED! --- $13 Same as the fan.
Through it out cause I thought it was broke.

MSI DVD player --- $45
I thought it was the player that was broke so
I was just in time the PC club let me exchange it.
Of course it was the PSU that blew it.

The second player
Lite-On DVD player --- It was $5 more with the exchange.
Blew it and the hard disk at the same time.

Hard disk ---- $63

I now have a LOCK on my case so I can't get into it.
No, but I should. I've learned a lot in a month. Believe
me.

My wife runs my mistakes through a bandsaw and makes jewelry out of it

Sorry to hear it happened, but :sigh: that's how ya learn sometimes. I've spent the last 5 yewars trying to build a stable, fast digital audio workstation that didn't have some sort of demons.

Whoa! Are you sure you're not cursed or something?!

j/k

Tough luck man. It'll get better with time though. You win some, you lose some. But hopefully you've learned to NEVER throw anything out until you're absolutely positively 100% sure it doesn't work anymore. And then, you first make sure they won't replace it for you.

Talk about bad luck.... or is it bad planning, and lack of patience??

The advice about modding and upgrading is usually to plan and check everything really well before you start doing anything.
I know it's easy to say that AFTER the damage has been done, but maybe a dead mobo & CPU proves the point??

Better luck next time, eh??

I guess I was lucky or have a lot of patience because I took everything out before I butchered the case with a jig saw and a drill. The old duron case couldn't handle the heat generated by an xp palomino cpu. What I did was put in a blowhole on the top and a sucker in the side panel. The case is cheap and so am I.
