I've got the z560's, now what?

Okay, so BB had the 560's on sale this week and I went and bought them. I must say they are supurb, the audio quility is just amazing. The only problem is I dont know if I've got them correctly working with my computer. I know I've got them pluged into the right place, but how do I set up my sound card so that the computer volume controls dont mess up the external controls? I have a P4 1.6 running XP with SBLIve! card... right now i have my computer volume set to max, is that right?

I keep all of my volume settings at 85%. Sometimes if you drive your card at max volume, you can distort the sound as it is over-amplifying the signals. Bringng it back a little bit will help fix the problem.

If you say the audio quality is amazing- then they must be hooked up right? Unless there is a specific problem or behavior that you are not sure about...

I didnt know if there was a certain line out setting I was supposed to use so that there would be only one volume control. It seems kind of silly to have two volume settings you can change.

Can't remember if the 560s are 4.1 or 5.1, but you'd hook them up:

Gameport-------Rear-----Front-----xxxx-----xxxx-----Digital

/======/---------o----------o----------o--------o----------*

On a 5.1 soundcard.

Se the vlume lower than max. Do about 75-85%, as Ruharc mentioned. This keeps the line from being 'oversaturated' in sound and creating 'farts' in the speakers. Especially important for high-bass applications.

No, there are 2 volume controls. Srry. Get used to it.

Yep. That's my advice too. I have them and I keep the bass set on adio properties to about 50% and the treble at a steady 90%... Thats what I've got and they work wonders!

Yeah, your speaker's amp should be able to amplify anything you give it plenty, so keep the equalizer low and your speakers high.

Now the "Hardware Acceleration" setting on my sound card, does that do anything... acording to one of my game manuals it largly slows down the preformance of the game, so if I leave it off will that affect my overall results with the speakers?
