MS-6738 Realtek ac97 major problem - Help Please

Hi All,

O/S win98 clean and fresh.
All standard apps okay.
disabled Nortons AV.
tried with minimum backgrounds running.
All CD utilities installed without a hitch except
Realtek ac97.

All instructions followed and all other systems okay but multimedia within control panel not allowing selection of audio.
Audio okay in bios, latest bios.
All properties in system perfect, no conflicts and audio appears okay.
started in safe mode and no problems or duplicate drivers.
Tried uninstall and re-install.
tried new downloaded drivers, no joy.

Any ideas?

Okay, Contacted the supplier and he is going to supply a new board. I must admit this is the first one of msi that is faulty that I have seen.
