RADAON 9700 pro VS. Everquest

First I cant understand why this card is so hard to install, and why the (only 30 days free support from date of purchase).
Second after installation it works fine with a slight flicker on the desk top view.
Third and the biggest Problem is when I put the Graphics to work. I can get past the server log on all the way to the charter select but once I get to the charter select the computer Locks right up and the monitor shut off.
Some Info that might help: My system, Pentium 4 2.4 Processor, SB Live Mp3, and an ATI Radaon 9700 Pro. Mem is 512 mb and the AIT Card has 128 mb .
If there is anyone that can help me that would be great.

Did you try installing the latest Radeon drivers? They can be downloaded from here.

Are you running any overclocking utilities? I was having problems with my Radeon 9500 pro...I would get into RTCW, and it would play for about a minute before totally locking the system...I narrowed down the problem to a video card utility called Powerstrip. After uninstalling Powerstrip, all was fine.

First of all thanks guys for replying.
Ok here’s the list. All drivers for my VIA P4PB mother board are upgraded, all the drivers for the Radeon 9700 pro are up graded and Direct3d has been tested and has pass all tests. The new drivers for the SB Live mp3 have been installed, and I have the latest version of Direct X 9.0a. and still my computer goes to desk top when I get to the Server select screen in the game Everquest . I’m puzzled I don’t think there is any else I can up graded. Here is a copy of my system spec’s.

Take a look at these:
( EDIT ) Ok, the links didnt work, here is a quote...
Quote:
Here is the solution: EverQuest: Crashing to the desktop after selecting character while using the New UI.
If you are having problems loading EverQuest and crashing after the Character Selection screen, and you are running your own "Custom" New User Interface skins, you need to delete the following files from your "Custom" skins folder, or copy these files from your "Default" folder into your "Custom" folder

- EQUI.xml
- EQUI_Animations.xml
- EQUI_BazaarSearchWnd.xml
- EQUI_BazaarWnd.xml
- EQUI_CompassWnd.xml
- EQUI_OptionsWindow.xml
- window_pieces04.tga

You will need to do this any time we patch XML files.

If this solution does not work for you, also try deleting the uifiles folder in your EverQuest directory, and let the patcher bring it back.

You may already know this but it is very important to install your latest video and sound card drivers after directX. First directX, then video drivers, then sound drivers.
Installing DirectX

Good Luck
