Kids Video Card Driver Advice. What do you Think?

I purchased and installed a new Asus 9280/TD GeForce4 Ti 4200 128 Meg DDR video card. It has the latest drivers from ASUS. I have been having problems playing Bethesda's Morrowind and after giving them my DXDiag information, Bethesda techical support they came back with this remedy :

"The drivers installed for your GeForce4 video card are not compatible with DirectX 8.1, which would cause graphic issues in the game. Download and install the latest drivers from Nvidia at..." And I went directly to Nvidia's sight. My DirectX is 8.1 by the way.

Now I have downloaded the Detonator 41.09 drivers, but I have yet to install them. What do you think? Would it better to keep my present drivers or should I go ahead and install Nvidia's drivers? Thanks ahead of time.

Well if that is what Asus said then there is no reason to believe that would cause a problem,...however I would backup your present drivers just in case.
I have heard of people having good experience with the detonator drivers (as opposed to the third party ones)...its what I use for mine.

I've always only used Nvidia's detonator drivers. No problems whatsoever!
It was actually when I used the MFG's drivers that the card came with is when I had problems...

I think you will find that most people here would use the reference drivers however not everyone uses the latest ones. It all depends on how much you want to go into getting the version that works best for your system. I would say go ahead and see how they work. Just uninstall the current drivers first.

Thanks to all of you. Now my next question, how do I uninstall and back-up my current drives? Thanks again.
