connectivity problems

i have a computer running Windows 98 SE. i have cable internet. three days ago we experienced a malfunction of some sort.
this computer will no longer connect to the internet.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the network card and drivers.

info in winipcfg is all correct
system device manager says it is working with no conflicts, but we cannot connect

shut down your computer and turn off your modem.
Let the modem set a few minutes.
turn on the modem wait till it's on and then boot your computer.

i tried the reboot of the modem and computer without success.

windows is reporting three missing files. they are as follows:

wpsdrv9x.vxd
teefer.vxd
enable.vxd

i have no idea what their associations are.

Send a message via Yahoo to kendo
enable.vxd is part of the operating systems files that have to do with accessibility options can be extracted from cab files

teefer.vxd belongs with sygate personal firewall

unsure of the third

extracted enable.vxd and reinstalled sygate. all three missing files are cured.

still can't connect even thought device manager says my network card is functioning properly.

I even tried to resetup my internet connection, but get a message that the internet connection helper wizard failed to load.

i am totally perplexed.
