Memory brand decision Crucial or PNY

Hi,

I currently have Crucial 2700 256mb.

I want a total of 512MB.

I can get another Crucial 2700 256MB for $33.

Or PNY 2700 for $42 and $25 rebate making it $17

Which should I go for?

I would really like to spend hardly anything but Crucial is a great name.

Thanks

Yes, Crucial has a great reputation. But PNY is also well regarded. I've got sticks of both in different machines and have never had a problem with either.

After that, it just depends on whether you want to deal with the rebate. If it was a CompUSA rebate, I'd go with Crucial even though it costs more.

I would go with the Crucial just to be sure that they will work together.

I'de try my best to match the sticks exactly. Sometimes RAM can disregaurd all conventional thought and just be 'fussy'.

I'll add another vote for Crucial.
You already know this type works with your motherboard.
The PNY is a crapshoot!

I have had bad experiences with PNY, and they aren't really the best quality product IMO.

Crucial

My suggestion is to go with Crucial. You will minimize the chance of having problems, plus Crucial is a great mem.

I'd agree with everyone about staying with crucial based on known compatibility ( especially if you are running a Nforce2 board )

In actuallity, I run two different kinds of DDR in my system without problems ( at least not anything that I notice or could point to the ram being the issue )

Everyone thanks alot for your suggestions. I'm going to go with Crucial since I've never had a problem with them and I've been using them for a few years now.

www.Googlegear.com has the $33 Crucial
www.bestbuy.com has the PNY for $17 after rebate

PNY=crappy RAM, IMHO

Crucuial=No problems

I've had all my PNY sticks go bad. Go for Crucial if you can.
