Headphone Jacks...

Hello. I am very frustrated right now. First of all I have a Gateway that was bought in 1998. I have a CD player and I just recently got a CD-RW drive. I installed the CD-RW myself and made it the master and the CD player the slave. On the front of the CD-RW drive is a headphone jack which is what I've been really needing and the CD player does not have one. I have been trying to listen to music through my headphone and it just does not work! If you plug in the headphone you can still hear the music thru the speakers of the computer. I cannot figure out how to get it to work. Does anybody know what the problem could be? Thanks!

By the way the CD-RW drive is a Que! (I think).

that headphone jack does not take over the entire sound as you learn. you will have to plug it into the back to have the sound just come from the head phones. check your speakers to see if they have a headphone jack.

I did plug in the headphones in the back and it does work, but the cord from the headphone is too short and so I may have to go and find a headphone with a long cord.
