Program to monitor when my computer restarts?
Everynow and then i will wake up and find my computer has restarted while I am sleeping. Is there a program that can monitor my computer and tell me when it restarts and why?
Thanks,

What OS? If you are using XP or 2K, you can go to Admin Tools->Event Viewer

there is a big time gap missing between 5am(when i went to bed) until 11:24am. No errors or nothing. Its as if it was off that whole time, and then turned itself back on |

If you want to try a third-party util, Engagent makes one called Event Log View. You can also do filters and stuff with this one. Check out their download section.
Generally, if there is nothing between those times in the Event viewer files, though, it means that nothing of any danger or interest happened within the system. In other words, the reboot wasn't an error in Windows' fault. If this continues and proves to hold, check for overheating or faulty hardware (maybe your hitting a shutdown temp).
Hope this helps!

How do you know there is a gap, it could be the program or whatever you are using.

Look at the pic, you will see the gap. There is no overheating, i have seti running 24/7 and my cpu temps never go above 42°C. The only piece of hardware i am having problems with is my video card, but i think i fixed it by reinstalling the drivers.

Well it restarted today while I was just on the desktop. I was just about to press teh start button when all of a sudden my hard drive shutoff, and then spunback up causing teh computer to restart. When it started back up I got a message saying the system has recovered from a serious error. The files it listed were
C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\Mini060403-01.dmp
C:\DOCUME~1\CHRIST~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER1.tmp.dir00\ sysdata.xml
I've read on the internet that if you get this error, associated with these files, that your user account has been corrupted. But the thing is, i just formated my drive and reinstalled windows just a day ago. How could the account have been corrupted in just one day? So I got thinking, maybe its not a software problem. Maybe my hard drives are overheating? What can cause then to just turn off all of a sudden? There had been a lot of hard drive activity put on them for a couple of hours becasue I was running kazaa. Maybe they are getting to hot from the stress? But then again, i left today for a few hours with kazaa running, and the system didn't reboot this time?
I am very confused/pissed off at my computer right now. I will be leaving in two days and really want the computer to be running the whole time.

Just hit Ctrl-Alt-Del and see what time it logged in.

I assume you're using WinXP, right? On that, or 2k or NT, you can hit Control+Alt+Delete and it will tell you what time Windows restarted. In any case, I haven't been reading to deeply and this advice is a little dated. It sounds like a hardware issue but if not temps then maybe bad IDE cables or ports.
