Problem with Norton Antivirus

Well after a few days I finally restarted my computer, and i get an alert when my desktop starts up with Norton Protection: Attention! as the title and "access denied, c:" as the message. Im running Norton System Works 2003 Professional edition. Windows still allows me to access c: perfectly fine, i can also right click on files and scan them for viruses and it works fine. It had been a few days and the only thing i recall installing was Nero burnrights plugin, after uninstalling this i restarted again and i got the same message.

Anyone have any ideas?? I'm quite stumped. But what makes it even weirder is that everythign appears to be working fine but its quite annoying to get that error message and not know whats giong on

Kids

What OS are you using. Run " msconfig" and see if anything has changed in your startup box, startup folder ???

Did you disable Norton before you installed Nero. I've had problems with Norton not liking changes made by an install program.

What I usually do is scan the install disk for viruses and then disable Norton right before the install. You can re-enable Norton after the install is complete.

I would un-install Norton sys works and restart your computer and make sure it boots up ok. Then run scandisk and a defrag program. Restart again and re-install sys works. Hope this helps,

Go to the web address below it tells how to get rid of the "access denied, c:" message or follow these steps:
To set permissions for Windows XP Professional:
1. Click Start, and then click My Computer.
2. Click Tools, and then click Folder Options.
3. Click the View tab.
4. In the Advanced settings box, scroll to the bottom of the list.
5. Clear "Use simple file sharing."
6. Click OK.
7. Right-click the C drive icon, and then click Properties.
8. Click the Security tab.
9. In the "Name" box, click Administrator.
10. In the "Permissions" list, check "Allow" for all items in the list.
11. Repeat steps 9 and 10 for System.
12. Click OK, and then restart the computer.
