Why do websites from other countries?

Take longer to load than if you view a site from America.Is it slower because it has further to travel?Or am I just imagining this?

For the same reason that postal mail to other countries takes longer to arrive -- the distances are greater.

this is just a guess, but id suspect that you hit bottlenecks because of the distance, and the fact that people are up and using the internet in lesser developed networks at different times, ie prague is 10+ hours ahead...so might be a peak time when the data is routed through there, and there netowrk may not be extensive as the US or UK.

Bill,your brave to post there...I did a couple of times..but,I think I'm out numbered...to many libs...and quite frankly I just don't have the intelligence to argue most of there points...you know your quite limited when you can't use cuss words to argue...maybe I should have finished school..or do GED's really mean much?Oh well,live and learn..
