To Choose Between Two Sytems...Wanna Help?

Hello. First let me say that it is a refreshing sight to see so many members on a forum like this. I'm currently looking into buying a new computer system. I think that I've narrowed it down. It's between a Dell and a private builder that I completely trust. I know that there are some good and some bad with each. I have a Delta 1010(for Sonar XL multi track recording) that I'm going to drop in when the system gets here so the soundcard/speakers are not a huge issue. Although the Dell w/ the surround sound seems like it would be cool1!! I'll be using it for Internet, games, and digital audio workstation. Anyways, don't be shy,let me have it!! Which would you choose? The more honest opinions the better. Thanks alot.

Those systems both look pretty nice, but I'd personally go with the private builder for several reasons:

Generic parts.
Generic case (more upgradeable than a Dell case)
Supports a small business (not a huge one).
You know what quality RAM you're getting (Corsair is good stuff IMO).
An LCD monitor will take up less space for an "office" type machine than a 19" CRT will.

If you're looking for an audio editing machine, why not just ask them to take off the sound card/speakers you don't want or need?

My only real comment is on the...
JBL Creature Silver 3 Piece Speakers $123
I would do some research on these because I remember reading more than one bad review on their sound quality.
Otherwise I generically agree with samwichse.
