Can i have too much pagefile?

I have a 6gb secondary hard drive which i use as the pagefile drive. Currently i have the pagefile set to be 1000-4000gb. Is this too much? Is there any adverse side effect when the pagefile is colossal?

Supposedly, it will give you the best performance to use a pagefile 1.5 times the amount of RAM you have in your system.

Also... set the max and min size to be the same... that way it will stay more of a block.

yes you can have too much...
Technically I don't think it will hurt all that much, but its comes to a point of diminishing returns to where its no longer worth the space...
If you have a 200 gig HD and the 6 gig is just for page file..so be it have a ball!
Otherwise its just a waste of space

As noted above keeping it around 1.5 x RAM is fine

Virtual Memory in Windows XP
(great article)

Introduction

"This page attempts to be a stand-alone description for general users of the way Virtual Memory operates in Windows XP. Other pages on this site are written mainly for Windows 98/ME (see Windows 98 & Win ME Memory Management) and, while a lot is in common, there are significant differences in Windows XP."
