New internet annoyance.
I have a popup stopper and it works great, but a new form of internet anooyance has formed: Those activeX JAva things. You know, the ones that say.. Would you like to install "FREE GIRLS!!! ( WE SWEAR ITS FREE)" from the "Gator Company" ? And you click yes or no. On some web pages.. three or four of these thing will pop up, one right after another saying the exact same thing. I know you can disable ALL of these types of downloads but some of them are useful like the one asking if you watn to install Macromedia Flash Player. If there a third party program out there that remembers companys or ones your have said NO to already?
There is a box that says "Always accept downloads from "Whatever Company". There should alos be one that says Never accept downloads from "Whatever Company"
Thanks.

Mozilla or Firebird are great browsers and they stop all pop-ups.

joker_927 - I am a huge MS fan (one of the few here) but I got tired of IE installing things - I am running Mozilla now and it is not as user friendly like IE but nothing has installed and I can easily block any/all pop ups.

WOW this mozilla thing is great! No popups and no more things asking me to install programs and porn! I went to a very bad site taht usually asks for things left and right and tries to bookmark itself and downloads thing. With Mozilla nothing happened. I just sat there waiting...and nothing popped up! Awsome.
The only downside I see is that Mozilla is VERY slow. I click on a link, and it takes maybe 2 seconds to find the site, 2 sec to recognize it, 2 more to retreave it, 4 to download it, and then I see my site. That is 10 seconds of waiting when IE would be around 1 seconds total. Maybe there are tweaks somewhere, or I have a setting checked that shouldn't be.
Any ideas?

Did you try Firebird or Mozilla? I like Firebird. It's smaller and, I believe, faster. Although I've never noticed any speed problems with Mozilla. Maybe if it's really working to block pop-ups and downloads, it'll slow down.

If you like the features Mozilla provides and the looks, try Netscape...it is pretty much the exact same browser but it seems to be faster. Netscape is based on the Mozilla browser so you will at least know where the settings and stuff are. I think you will be happy with Netscape.
Like I said, Netscape looks almost exactly like Mozilla...maybe even a little cleaner looking, but it seems to run faster. Worth a shot at least. http://channels.netscape.com/ns/browsers/download.jsp |

Mozilla is faster for me and it doesn't come with all the AOL garbage like Netscape.

If you like the ease of use that IE has, but want to stop the popups and junk, try Avant Browser. It's my browser of choice |
