Networkable Storgage????????
I want something just like THIS but without the $450.00 price tag - I want something that I can make backup's too WITHOUT adding another PC - I looked at the external Maxtor and Western Digital drives but they use fireware or USB 2.0 - I am REALLY wanting an ethernet conenction. What I am going to be using this for is backups. That's why I want an ethernet connection for the speed.
A pc presets too much heat and I really don't want another PC in my office - something nice and small that I can put out of the way.
Any othee ideas???? T H A N K S

Sounds like a NAS server. snap server is one. Intel made the InBusiness NAS server I think they are discountinued. I bought a Snap server on ebay before I've seen the Intels too (older models not as much storage but alot cheaper then new)

Now thats a neat little thing, cheap too, compared to most NAS's I have seen.
On topic, why not use firewire? Its pretty fast. 400 megabit, versus a 100 megabit network. But it doesn't have all the cool features that NAS you linked has.
Seriously that thing is neato.

hello - yeah, I like the Linksys but again, the $450 price tag is a bit much for me at the moment.
goldenbuddha - reason I want an ethernet based NAS is I have 2 different PC's I want to backup. I felt like this would be easier if it was it's own seperate node on the network. I might end up going that route anyway, just loking for an easier and cheaper route. THANKS!!! ---edwelly

seriously man, you have sparked that irrepressible feeling in me to buy that Linksys... its just neato.
NAS I have used at work are too expensive and not as feature rich, and so home friendly.... thanks for the link!
While researching the Linksys I ran into another one, have a look Spect-NAS

goldenbuddha - thanks for the link but the linksys is "more" of what I am looking for. To me that Linksys is "perfect" for what I am wanting except for the price tag. Iw ant to order the Linksys so bad but I just can't spare the funds for it right now.
Thanks again my friend!
