Which file system for dual boot?

Have 98SE FAT32 networked to 2 other machines running W2K NTFS.

98 is on 10 GB partition with 30 GB unpartitioned.

Going to install W2K on drive figuring about 10 GB for 2K and then creating 3rd. partition with remaining 20 GB.

What file system should I choose for 2K? Fat32 or NTFS?

On the 3rd. partition what file system should I use? Fat32 or NTFS.

Thanks,
Bill

for the w2k os partition, i'd use ntfs...no reason not to.

for the 3rd partition (shared) you will obviously have to use fat if you want to be able to read the files when you boot from win98. just keep in mind that using a fat partition will more 'wasted' cluster space in a partition that size (20gb).

well it depends on several factors. are you going to be accessing data on your 2k partition from your 98 partition? if so then go with fat32, otherwise go with NTFS (it won't create any boot loader problems). Personally what i would recommend doing is give win2k about 10 gigs also and then create a "files" partition of 20 gigs that's fat32...that way it's not tied to either OS and you can mess around with the other OSs as much as you want without hurting your files...just IMO of course.

EDIT: i guess i COULD read all of your post....yeah definitely go NTFS
