Window XP Shut Down Problem

Can anyone tell me why everytime when i tried to shut down the windows, it restart instead of shutting down. it happened 8 out of 10 times. Thanks

Try turning off the "automatic restart" feature system properties --> advanced --> startup and recovery

It might be possible that you're having a fatal error during shutdown and its restarting.

Does it complete the entire shutdown process from what you can tell? Saving all the settinsg and whatnot that normally takes 15-30 seconds?
