I hate programs like this.
Problem is, that will not remove ALL all of AOL!

AOL also modifies your winsocks and registry entries and by using the Add/Remove program, it will not correct these problems. There are also a number of AOL files that the Add/Remove program won't remove and you can't find them by simply looking for "AOL" in the name. That's why most Tech's recommend Fdisk, reformat, and reloading your OS. (I've also had several AOL TS people verify this and recommend F/R/R!)

Come to think about it, AOL will also modify your modem drivers and when you remove AOL, it will not change them back. You have to manually uninstall and re-install your modem or load a different set of modem drivers to get your modem to function properly again.

BTW, MSN doesn't screw things up this bad!

AOL uninstalls as easily as anything else. Sharder8, you're promulgating anti-AOL propaganda (in addition to thread crapping).

If everyone's done flaming aol I'd like to know if the problem has been fixed and if not if you have any other questions that we might be able to help with

btw: I've used aol for several years without any serious issues. no viruses no request for a new modem never had any of the problems stated by anyone else in the thread. IMO I use a differnet service now but still use aol from time to time. Mainly for cost savings reasons

The original problem had nothing to do with AOL per se.

AOL DOES NOT uninstall as easily as anything else!!!

I AM NOT promulgating anti-AOL propaganda, I am stating well documented fact that has also been pointed out many times, by many Tech's! Those of us that have had to deal with customers and their AOL problems know and understand what I've said! Those who take their machines to Tech's to fix their AOL problems do NOT understand what we have learned!

In answer to your question though, it will depend on what operating system you're running. Back when I was running

Osprey --

Does this look like thread crapping??

My initial response in this thread could be taken as thread crapping, but the remainder were helpful or to correct misconceptions and incorrect statements or impart knowledge!

I know and realize there are people out there that think AOL is the best thing since sliced bread, but to state that it is when you know it isn't is nothing more than promulgating AOL propaganda!

I also know a couple Techs that try to get their customers hooked on AOL, so they can continue to go back and make money fixing the problems that come up with AOL! (These Tech's give tech's in general a bad name! ) Why would I make this statement you ask?? They've sat and shown me how much they make on repeat visits and admitted they loved AOL because they could make a living off people that they hooked on AOL! BTW, one was finally fired when the Boss found out what was happening!

Do a little research!
Work in a computer shop for a while!
Talk to the owners of a few Computer Shops!
Open your own computer business and provide your own TS!
Stop and analyze what you learn!
