hard disk drive not detected

I have a Versa P/75 laptop. I dont know what it has for a drive. I want to set it for user define, cuz its not detecting that it has one. I cannot find any tech info for this particular laptop to tell me anything about it. It was given to me couple of days ago. wont boot up, bios settings are screwed. auto-setup doesnt seem to detect drive. do I ahve to bust it apart to see if drive is there?
