I have the same 2100B AIUHB chip running 2.3G. 200fsb x11.5 @ 2v. in an Epox 8rda w/ PC3200 Samsung. Mine won't do 13x166 at stock voltages, and obviously yours won't either.
| excellent! you have given me a useful answer, so what would you think about running a lower multiplier say 12 x 166, im gonna have to keep the speed around the 2000 mark if I can as the mobo wont support higher than a 2600 XP
or is the 166 FSB gonna require the higher voltage no matter what, how about a higher multiplier and lower fsb say 14 x 142?

beppodmime, ok I am aware about the no 2 are a like. Quote: |
Try, just try, increasing the voltage a notch or two. See what happens.
| I never have played with the voltages before, I guess im just a bit freaked out by it, I do have excellent cooling though, Volcano 9, 3 x case fans

One more thing Vert. If you tell us exactly what kind of problems your system came up with yesterday morning, we might be able to determine what caused the problem and thus is the part that's holding you back.

Just tweak them in the smallest increments possible, and watch your temps very carefully. Upping the voltage is what really causes things to heat up.

Your RAM is rated for 166, so I wouldn't think that it (the RAM) require more vdimm. I'm not sure that your mobo has an adjustment for vdimm. Or if it will even recognize the lower multi's. It may require the old wire trick or closing the 5th L3 bridge to get 12.5x and down.
I'd just set it to 166 and start raising the core v, watch the temps and see how it runs. These things will take 90C. I'm not one to worry about temps, mine idles at 50C. Now someone will pop in here w/, "THAT'S TOO HOT THAT'S TOO HOT!" I say, "Fogetaboutit." If it's not crackin past low 60's gaming, I'm OK. It'll crash before it burns.

Okay, a couple more questions.
#1. What version of windows are you using?
#2. "How" did it freeze? Did it freeze partways into loading windows, did it freeze after windows was loaded, did it crash to a BSOD?

Bruneau, you need to realize not everyone is that apathetic about computer hardware. Higher temps will reduce the lifespan of your CPU, whether or not it crashes or burns.
I overclock out the wazoo, and still don't let my 100% load temps go over 50C.

I don't plan on using this thing 20 years from now. So, what if it only lasts 15.
Don't be so paranoid.
