GeForce FX IS available in PCI

Just thought I'd post this for anyone who may be interested.

I saw one for sale at Best Buy earlier. GeForce FX 5200. PCI.

I'll edit this post when I find some linkage to prices and performance. I was so shocked, I didn't bother to look at the price tag.

So, as was known, this officially declares the FX 5200 as budget.

EDIT:

Well, it was a BFG Technologies card, but I couldn't find it on either Best Buy's page or BFG's page. I'll keep looking.

EDIT #2:

Wouldn't you know it, the boys at X-bit Labs are on top of this, with an article about PNY carrying the GeForce FX PCI.

Someone over in the Anandtech forum ran a comparison. He found the GeForce FX was so lowly clocked (presumably to fit the PCI slot power budget) that the PCI Radeon 9100 runs circles around it in any benchmark.

Thanks for the link! Exactly what I was looking for!

The PCI 9100 looks very strong. If it was power issues, they should have included an external adapter. They need to get those mem speeds up, alright. With an external adapter, it would probably O/C well, too.

Yes ... but putting a separate power plant onto the graphics card massively adds to cost. You can do that at the very top end of the market, but not in budget or midrange.
Especially when your competitors have faster chips that consume half the power.

The PCI Radeons can do that for you too.

Yup that would work too =) But it seems such a sin, when the GF2 works just fine... would be great for someone thinking of dual displays right now tho!

I got the Nvidia for both, so I can just install 1 driver once....and not have to install 2 different video drivers
