Systems clock multiplier settings for athlon xp

i love new egg and have bought stuff frequently from them but i have to see if its me whos doing something wrong. i just dumped alot of money into a new system and got it up and running just a little while ago. got an epox 8rda+ with an athlon xp 2600+
2.08 ghz.

well during the post it shows the cpu as an xp 2000+ which in turn shows up as a 1.67 ghz cpu in windows xp.

do i really need to change the cpu clock ratio in bios? i also noticed i cant even change the bus speed to 333 which this board is rated at. the highest i can get it 250. is it just me or did new egg throw me a knuckleball? oh yeah, the box and cpu itself say xp 2600+ too.

nah its running at the default which is 133. i would think that during the post it would at least show the right speed.

I don't have your paricular board, but on my AOpen KT400 board, to get to 166mhz, you have to set a jumper that sets the FSB range...100mhz to 133mhz, 134mhz to 166mhz, etc. Look for something like that.

Then just set the FSB to 166 and try that. your default is probably 133 and needs to be changed.

LOL

The Athlon 2600+ came in two versions, the 133 and the 166 fsb version.

12.5 * 166 = 2080 mhz
12.5 * 133 = 1666 mhz

the highest i can get it 250
Whoa, ok, you're all mixed up here...

You're trying to set your board to 250 real mhz, which would be 500 mhz ddr. The "333" is actually 166 mhz ddr, so you want to set it to fsb/memory 166/166.

If you sneak a peek at the spec sheet here:
http://www.vr-zone.com/reviews/EPoX/8RDA+/
You'll see that bus speeds are listed as 100-250mhz (200-500mhz ddr).

Maybe the multiplier isn't set right??? Sounds like multiplier is set at 12.5 if you have the 266 fsb version when it should be 16......
