Kids HELP!! Printer stopped working

I have a Canon FB630P scanner plugged into the parallel port on my Win2000 machine, and into the scanner, i have plugged an Epson Stylus Color 760.

This has worked faultlessly for about 3 months, until today. my printer no longer prints. in fact.... my computer can no longer communicate with it at all.

the cables are in such a place that cannot be kicked, touched, or anything else... and they haven't moved for 3 months either!

i've been printing fine for all this time, until today.... when all communication was lost!

i've tried reinstalling the driver, but the software installation says "A usable port for this printer cannot be found". I can still scan stuff though. i've even tried rebooting about 3 times!!!!

any ideas??? this is really frustrating, and i just cannot solve it!!

Is the printer still showing up in the printers/scanners? If so, uninstall it and then reinstall...........there might have been enough of previous install left to tie up the port......uninstalling it completely might free the port back up and allow you to reinstall it............

make sure the scanner is turned on, some won't pass without power.
