They let you do that? Wow, cool, you should of said (Goodbye!) And then said you were joking, man they would be pissed..
I really wanted a canon elph cause they are so small and good looking, but the only price they had for the 200 was $300, too much for me so i got a CANON A40 (2.0MP @ $250)

Actually I did walk out after testing all the cams...they weren't upset at all...I checked some prices at other stores and online and found them to be about the same...so I went back and bought it. They're customer service was really good...and I really appreciated them letting me have fun. At Best Buy, it's all I can do to find someone that knows anything to help...plus, if I hadn't been able to try out the cams at Circuit City, I would've done the impulse buy and got the Canon Elph...based on looks...but I would've been dissappointed and returned it...
I tried the Canon Elph there in the store and I didn't think the pictures were that great...I mean compared to the Nikons or the Fujis IMO...plus the Canon was more expensive.
The Nikon 2100 is only 2 MP...didn't really want to spend the extra $$ for extra pixels I don't need...it can print 5x7 pics (plenty for photos)...and displays 1600x1200 on screen (great for wallpaper) http://www.nikonusa.com/specs/25510.pdf |

Nice to see you had good customer services..
When i bought mine the guy was rude. I went in, and being young and not looking 30's maybe he thought i didn't have the money..
I sat there for about 10 mins while he was right in front of me, another customer said "He was here first" when he went to wait on him, when i talked to him i said i wanted the Canon A40 (Because i did alot of research before i bought it, and i wanted to see it in person) He said there was none left, but when i checked online it said there were plenty left, so i said to myself (That can't be, they don't sell that fast)
So i went to customer service counter and asked to speak with some one, so i told him what happened, and we got another person, he found the camera where the guy already looked, in back. So i got the promotion (A free camera bag with any purchase over $100) a 128MB flash card ($40) and the camera $250, the guy felt bad and asked the salesman how much the bag was, the sales guy said it was free, and asked how much the card was ($40, was on sale) and he said "Ok..." Said he'll give it to me for free, i said he didn't have to, so he insisted and i took it.
Spent about $270 total with tax at COMPUSA, and love the camera, bad experience though |

Thank you all for your input. I am kinda leaning towards the Nikon 4500 new egg has this camera for $575.00 with free shipping and a $200 MIR. This seem like a good deal?
Thanks,
Wolf.

That's a nice price for that camera, especially after rebate. It's a pretty good camera too, it has pretty much the same imaging sensor as the 5700 which is nikons top o the line prosumer digicam in a 4mp version as apposed to the 5mp of the 5700. The only drawback to both those cameras is low-light focusing and a tendency to blow out highlight detail in high contrast situations...ie bright sun-light outdoor shots. But unless you plan on using this in a professional environment that should not be a noticable problem. The low-light focusing issue is sort of a nikon trademark though, they just don't do a bang up job in low light situations. But for the money, that's a lot of bang for your buck.

3 things
I] Media is not going obsolete (SmartMedia is evidently becoming the 5 1/4" floppy of digital media);
B] ISO equivalent film speed >> 100 for any digital camera;
and
3] lenses are not made of plastic.
HAND
EDIT: iNeb raised a good point.
I leave the memory card in my camera as long as possible and use a USB cable for picture transfers.
My reasons are that I've seen my employers 2 year old Olympus C3030z recently get >$170 repair, because the card reader section got fried.
The camera was fairly heavily used, at work, and the memory card would get pulled out, and reinstalled sometimes 2-5 times per day, for months on end, so the cameras memory interface certainly took a lot of wear before it died.... but, in my opinion, the USB connector and electrical interface are definitely designed for repeated connections/disconnections while memory card ports are likely not designed for as many insert/removals.
Besides that, the USB connectors are more likely available off the shelf where the memory card connections are less common.
YMMV, but this career electronic design engineering technician bets on the cable method being more likely to live a longer life and be cheaper to repair.

I purchased a minolta dimage F100 not to long ago.. works great!
4 megapixel.. slammed a 256mb card in there.. good to go Also I would recommend getting a USB card reader. much easier that way..

| HP 850, 4mp & 8x Optical Zoom $459 shipped at the Gateway Store
Guy at work and I researched the $500 market for a month. This is the one we came up with after much review..
He shot a pic of an industrial complex about a mile away, on full optical & digital zoom [56x] you could see walkways and details down to about a foot or less in size, impressive !
