Currently running Detonater 43.00 drivers for xp
hey,
I've had this seriously annoying problem for about six months where my comp freezes for no apparent reason while playing 3d intensive games. Ive tried everything, at least half a dozen versions of bios and most of the versions of detonator drivers. I updated chipset and agp drivers as well and found out that this just changes the problem. Heres what i know so-far:
Definetly a video related problem, card-replacement immediatly fixes the trouble (cept i cant afford a new card of my own).
Removing detonater drivers and reverting to the windows default driver turns freezing into an error message about system stability
replacing detonater drivers reverts to freeze.
changing bois settings, agp speed, agp buffer ect appears to have no effect.
updating bios has no effect.
reducing screen resolution lets me play for slightly longer before freezes.
probably not heat, does the same thing with the A/C blowing straight into the case :P
I may have overheated it during the summer, could this cause lasting damage of this type??
I've heard about troubles with AGP and AMD but none of the fixes seemed to apply.
The fact that the problem changes when I change drivers seems to me like the actual board is OK and it's some sort of a software problem, I had a quick look at the IRQ's and windows is telling me they are all ok. I'm about ready to start tearing my hair out on this one. If anyone knows anything about this pleaaaase please help me .
Cheers,
