Puter won't boot!!

My roomies was putting a new powersupply and heatsink in his gf's machine. The power supply went it just fine ran great. Then he went to put in the heat sink, seem to go in fine, however now ... when he starts the machine, it runs for about 5 seconds, with a steady beep and then shuts off. Nothing else, just that beep and off. Any ideas?

The specs are

Tbird 1.2Gig
ECS K7v mobo
Antec 430 PS
G3 Ti200 Video

ANy ideas??

Well, either one of two things is happening here...

1. Your roomie cracked the core when he was putting the fancy new heatsink on...

or

2. The motherboard is shutting down because there is no fan plugged into the "CPU Fan" header of the motherboard. Connect a fan (any fan with a tach output) to the fan header that the cpu fan was plugged into and try again.

Hope this helps... I'm betting on #2

I would guess theres a FOC (fan off control) in the BIOS, make sure you disable it. It uses the sensor to make sure thers a fan running at least a certain RPM or else it will shut the comp off
