video display with intel motherboard ca810

I tried to install a game and it said I need 256 colors, so
I went into the display properties and only have two settings for color - 2 and 16. There was no 256 or others. Is this determined by the monitor or the mother board, which has on board sound and graphics? The monitor is a Delta DC-770 BA. The mother board is the intel ca810 with 500 celeron.

edit- Oh , using win 98se.

Food

Take a trip to Intel and download the mainboard drivers.
That should put your video and sound straight...

MRCOMPUTER,
Between posts I tried the bios upgrade. It went ok until the reboot. The computer asks for a current password. There was no password before . So now I'm stuck at that point, without the password the system stops.

Work

Clear the cmos jumper to remove the password.
I have updated the bios on CA810's before and have never had that happen...

I found the jumper settings. Did it, and now it boots.
But the 256 color thing is still a problem, and there is still no sound.
How can I tell if this is a driver thing or if the video and sound part of the mother board is no good?

The driver download doesn't fit on a floppy. I'll try to put it on a cdrw and install from that and see what happens.
