OK, try this page for boot disk files
http://www.bootdisk.com/
copying files to a disk will not make it bootable, unless its alreay a bootable disk!

Try running a quick re-install of XP, if nothing else.
XP killed my Mandrake boot, but a quick re-install of Mandrake fixed that problem

That download link is for a zip file. Did you unzip it to floppy or just copy the file? You must unzip it.

From my experience, with a Win 98 / ME boot disk, you can just copy the files to the disk. The sip I posted is copied directly from an actual Win 98 boot disk. Glad you got things resolved

glad you got it fixed but I think that fdisk /mbr was never going to work in xp or w2k

my usual route of salvation is fixmbr at the win2k (so probably xp too) command line

for those running either of the two try dropping to dos and typing help and it'll show you the post 98 dos commands

let me know if I'm wrong but I'm fairly sure that this works - failed solaris 8 and linux installs on win2k machines

For anyone runnign XP and needing to know all the command-line tolls installed with XP go to help and support and put "command-line reference" in the search box.......

This should work in 2000 also but I don't have a machine to check this on.....
