ImCrusher is on a distinguished road

Can someone please build me a computer system, without a case at ------ canadacomputers.com ------ for under $450? I would like the following:

Mobo (USB 2.0)
Processor (Athlon XP)
Hard Drive(7200)
RAM (256)
Video Card (Please find one that is not as crap as onboard)

If you could just post the product names in this thread that would greatly help me. I am not too sure what to get. Thanks!

party foul

sorry all, I scored a "party foul" with my post.
I quoted a misspelling (profanity) and then also displayed in my post a link to a site in my profile.
I should have just laughed to myself and continued on to a thread to which I could have contributed something useful, instead of taking up space needlessly.

if members have any questions about posts, read the FAQs or pm a moderator

hear u go:

Athlon XP 1800+ Retail = $107
AOpen AK77-333 VIA KT333, USB 2.0 = $109
Maxtor 40.0GB 7200 rpm HD= $104
256MB PC-2700 DDR333= $50
Sapphire ATI Radeon 7000 64MB DDR OEM= $64

total = $434 plus taxes.

this is the best i could come up with according to ur needs.

EDIT: if u want to go with a better motherboard go with the
ASUS A7V333 VIA KT333, ATA-133, USB 2.0, audio = $158. IMO this is a way better MB for about $50 more

Graphix

Ok, I will stick with the AOpen board. Im not sure if I should get the Sapphire ATI Radeon 7000 64MB DDR OEM for ---$64--- or

ABIT GeForce4 MX-440SE 4X 64MB DDR w/ TV-Out for ---$90---

I will want to play some demanding games such as Simcity 4 and CNC Generals.

Is that G4 better than Radeon 7000?

well, if you are willing to spend 90 on a vid card, how about getting the ati 9000 for $9 more? Those MX vid cards really suck for gaming, the 9000 isn't the best card on the market compared to high end cards out there, but its a heck of a lot better than the MX your looking at.

Really?

Are you sure the 9000 is better than the MX? That 9000 is also an OEM

There is no point in getting the 2700 Ram, when the proc only runs at 266. It will just slow down the mobo. Am i correct?

let's see, the 7000 is two generations old in comparison to the 9000, so yes I would say it is better. As far as the memory, if you want to save some dough, yes nock that down to pc 2100 instead of pc 2700...the difference is not that significant given the boards fsb, although memory prices are pretty low across the board right now. If you plan on overclocking your rig, then faster ram can help to accomplish this, but otherwise you will notice little performance boost between pc2100 and pc2700 in real world use, at least that's been my experience
