Kids Lucky Star Mobo 5MVP3

New on the forum. I have a few 5MVP3 Mobo's and all seem to have the same problem; won't shut down properly but don't scandisk after manual shutdown and restart. Bios: Award 4.1,
Win98SE. Any ideas?

Seems to be a software error to me
Have you tried reinstalling the OS ? Maybe try another OS also just in case.

Welcome to the forums!

Are you aware of the infamous W98 shutdown problems?

Have you applied the shutdown patch? If not you can get it from microsofts site.

Also a search on google will show a lot of posts about this problem sometimes resulting from things such as a corrupt sound file etc.

On W98se I sometimes run "drwatson" and "sfc"--->scan for altered files....sometimes one of those will show something. SFC will always show "setupx.dll as being changed but just click ignore on that one but anything else thats changed you can restore the file.

Have heard that sometimes the bios may have an option to assign irq to agp (or is that vga?) lol...maybe try that.

But if you dont have the patch then thats probably it.

Send a message via AIM to DanU
As John said, try the shutdown patch OR:

go to Start > Run > type in "msconfig" and enter > go to advanced > check "disable fast shutdown"
