Hiding a folder over a network?
Is it possible to hide a folder on a computer so nobody can see it over a network? I tried using the "hidden" option in properties, but that just restricts my view of it. Other people on my network can still see the folder.
BTW- OS is Win 2K Server and it's just a wired 100 Base T ethernet network.
Thanks in advance!

If it's on the share itself, add a $ at the end of the sharename. It will not be hidden for Linux though.
If it's a folder inside a shared folder, then the only way I know is restricting access with NTFS permissions.

It's a folder on my D drive called p... well, that's not important. The drive is shared, but I would like to restrict viewing of this folder. I go to folder properties and it does not seem to be shared. However, the drive it is on is shared. The $ thing didn't work. Any other suggestions?

The $ would only work on your P share, since it's the root share name.
You are on NTFS, you can restrict access to it with permissions.

OK, so I enabled sharing and denied all permissions. Now, nobody can see the folder (I checked all the computers) but they can still access it by typing... "\\MYCOMPUTER\D\p" (sans quotes). I know it's unlikely for someone to do this, but can I possibly restrict this from working?
