LAN Probs - 1 XP, 2 98SE

Had 3 98SE machines getting along fine through Linksys router - w/NetBeui bound to file & printer sharing (not TCP/IP).

Installed XPpro on one machine - now 98SE machines see XP machine in NETWORK NEIGHBORHOOD but XPpro doesn't see 98SE machines.

Learned that NetBeui is no longer supported by XP (but can be installed from the XP CD). Should I install NetBeui on the XP machine? Would that be the best solution to my problem? Remove NetBeui from 98SE machines?

I've had a W98se machine and W2K machine on the same network just fine. I was using tcp/ip, though. I've never used netbeui, but I have heard that it can be faster for small networks that tcp/ip. Most of my games don't support netbeui.

I don't have any trouble with file/print sharing in tcp/ip. If you don't have any compelling reason to keep netbeui, you might just want to do away with it.

Work Success trashing NetBeui

Upon a coworkers' recomendation - dumped NetBeui on my 98SE machines & made sure NetBios over TCP was enabled on the XPpro machine. Looks good!
