I use stand offs as well.. but when building my dual ssytem recieved grounding porblems.. also is u r using the anti conductive rings.. are u using them on both sides? if not that isn't going to help much if the stand offs are metal.. Its worth a time to try if u plan on taking it back 2mro..

I know how u feel I was cursing left and right when I finaly got to building my dual.. and I coudln't get it working the first day..

btw your welcome.. I do hate it when a solution can't be found.. It could very well be u got a bad MB it does happen.. and u should at least get a post even if the bios hasn't been updated to use the xp chip..

I'm just stumped.. I personaly would test each part in other systems.. if I had systems that took the parts I had.. and make sure each work proper.. that way you would konw that each part workedor not.. *shrugs* to bad allot of the good techs are off line right now..

Daft, I am just stumped and frustrated. While I've been dealin with this problem , I built a cel 800 sys in 2 hours including OS. The Cel was an ECS m/b for dual P3's. Just stuck the cele in for a short time! I'll loan that sys to the friend I was building the XP1800 for.

I feel comfortable with Asus- it's just one of those things. We all learn something new about these monsters each day and that's a good thing. I rarely post ?'s , I will figure the ?'s out for myself, the best if not fastest to learn.

I do appreciate the time everyone took to help me

Keep crunchin Daft,
GilaM

Ide say theres a possibility of a bios problem, you havent flashed it and the board came out before XPs hit the market so a flash may be needed to take an XP? Of coarse that leads to catch22, you dont want to flash a board that might shutdown during the eeprom write and the board shuts down.

I just ordered one so I hope its not a bigger problem , Im going to be running an old 200fsb CPU though. Also I just did an E.Wood of the manual and the voltage jumpers have two modes for each CPU type, you might try manualy setting the voltage jumpers to correct stock for your chip. In fact Ide try setting everything you can with the jumpers rather than the bios jumperless settings.

So much stuff in the bios and on the board frankly Im nervous about it.
