I don't think so.
PDF is (so I believe) patented by Adobe, and no program is even able to open a pdf file other than acrobat.
Show me a freeware reader (that is not from adobe) and I'll believe otherwise.

All of adobe's design programs can edit pdf files, photoshop, illustrator, indesign, pagemaker, acrobat....but those are not free, and they are the only ones I know of....adobe has a tight leash on their file format.

I believe there was one available about a year ago, but Adobe pushed its weight and it was soon removed from circulation - anyone know anymore on that - someone must have a copy!

I found these free proggies: Simple PDF Editor and SCP PDF Editor
And this one is a cheap one (39.0 EUR) Jaws PDF Editor™ ...
The following one is a freeware (or a shareware, not sure!) : Quote:
Gymnast converts text files to Adobe Acrobat PDF format without the need for any additional Adobe software.
Gymnast is extremely powerful yet incredibly easy to use. Choose a text file, select the options you want then hit "Make PDF" and the job's done. Download your copy now.

The 'simple pdf editor' according to it's description functions a bit like distiller, it prints regular files to pdf file format.
Not really an editor.
Looks so

yeah, tried them out for you....they can create a pdf, but cant open an existing pdf file to edit, so if that's what you want to do, they won't work |

I've never heard of a free editor either (real editor). The Jaws editor is pretty good, but it's more for markups. But, it will let you manipulate the pages if thats what you are needing. pdf995 is similiar http://www.pdf995.com/pdfedit.html.
If you happen to have a copy of illustrator it will let you edit everything on a page.

We just have one pdf that needs a few words changed so buying an adobe product is a bit of an overkill.
thanks for the replies will check them out tomorrow.
