There is one pdfedit at pdf995.com that is free for personal use (opens an advertisement window). I think it is $10 for a licensed copy. The pdfedit can export a PDF file to the Word format. Then, you can edit the document. I never tried this. Nothing wrong in trying the free version, and then buy the licensed version if you like it.

Ghostview will allow creation of a pdf file using pdfwrite driver (or ps2pdf utility). I don't think it will allow you to edit the PDF files directly.

Here's one: http://www.fytek.com/pdfmeld.html
FyTek's PDF Meld allows you to manipulate pages from existing PDF files. There are six main functions the software performs:
# Combine multiple PDFs into a single PDF file
# Pull pages from a PDF into a new PDF
# Rearrange the pages of a single PDF
# Resize, rotate or move the position of page contents of a single PDF
# Overlay pages from one PDF file onto the pages of a second PDF
# Add bookmarks
# Make minor touch-up text changes

Also try Scribus
It can create PDFs with loads of features, I'm not sure whether it can import PDF but it's easy to convert PDF to PS or EPS.

I've had excellent luck with the PDF995 package mentioned
earlier. (Thanks for the pointer, screen!) It does not edit PDF
directly, but it does allow you to convert PDF into an easily
editable format, such as jpg or tif, using its OmniFormat utility.

In the case of tif, you have the choice of converting the PDF
into a multi-page tif, or into a separate tif file for each page
of the document. After editing your tif or jpg, you use the
program to convert it back to PDF.

For making small changes to existing PDF documents, this
is a terrific way to go. The program has worked flawlessly
for me so far.

Also nice -- as opposed the Adobe's distiller, which I believe
converts only PostScript to PDF, PDF995 can convert nearly
*anything* to PDF. How it pulls that off is pretty clever: it
creates a new virtual printer under Windows called "PDF995".
To convert a document, image, spreadsheet, etc. to PDF,
you simply run its print command and select PDF995 as your
printer instead of your normal printer. It will then give you
a "Save As.." dialog to specify the file name where you want
it saved. And it can be set up to append to existing PDF
files too.

The PDF995 suite is free if you are willing to put up with some
advertising nags each time you use it. For around $30 you can
get rid of the popups.

Kids Tables:

I'm making use of the SCP PDF Editor, and I have a problem.

I'm trying to create the effect of an image imbedded within the text, with the text sort of wrapping around it. Here's the result, as seen on the top of Page 4:

http://www.geocities.com/lady_minerv...ew_Dawning.pdf

My question is: How do I do a table that is invisible? Or is there some way to manipulate the image? Regular .doc and .rtf formats allow the user to click on the image, and define how it will present itself with the text, but this Editor doesn't seem to have that.

Help, anyone?

I'm surprised no one's mentioned it, but OpenOffice is free and it can export to PDF no problems (and they look good too)
